Operation Christmas Child – The Amazing Journey of a Shoebox Gift Begins with You and Results in Evangelism, Discipleship and Multiplication

We are excited to again partner with Samaritan Purse in their ministry, Operation Christmas Child! For those who are unfamiliar with this ministry, or for those who would like to learn more, Cindy Kohl will be sharing information in the newsletter over the next few weeks.

What is Operation Christmas Child?
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship these simple gifts outside the United to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease, as well as to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

How can I help?
It’s easy. You just fill a shoebox with gifts for a boy or girl for Christmas. First decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and then select one of the following age categories 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Not sure what to buy? Please CLICK HERE for gift ideas and what not to buy. If you need a hard copy of the list, please contact Cindy Kohl. Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift. You can also include a personal note and photo.

Other ways you can support Operation Christmas Child is through a monetary donation for Operation Christmas Child shoebox collecting, processing, and shipping, as well as ministry partner training and Gospel materials  OR donate make any number of $9 donations to help with the shipping costs specifically. Postage and Handling
You are encouraged to donate $9.00 to cover postage and handling. If you donate this cost online, you will also receive a label to Follow Your Box and discover the destination. Otherwise, you are encouraged to include the $9.00 cost in your shoebox gift.

Where Do I Get a Shoe Box?
If you do not have a regular sized shoe box (no boot size boxes please), you may also find plastic shoe boxes at a dollar store. Decorated shoeboxes are available in the Narthex.

Samaritan Purse has also made it easy to pack a shoebox on line. In just a few clicks, you can select toys and other fun items to include as well as a letter and photo to delight the heart of a child. After we pack and ship shoeboxes like yours overseas, local believers share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children as they distribute them. As a result, families are reached, new churches are started, and communities are transformed. It begins with you – CLICK HERE to fill your shoebox and connect a child with Jesus.
